Petroleum Engineering Department provides key laboratory data for reservoir optimization. It provides technical consultation studies services relating to formation evaluation, reservoir characterization, Reservoir simulation and well performance evaluation.
Reservoir Rock Section
Reservoir Fluid Section
Drilling Fluids Section
Reservoir Studies Section
The Reservoir Rock Section is build to determine the petrophysical properties of reservoir rocks and basic data necessary for exploration and petroleum engineering work. There are two types of investigations that can be performed in the reservoir rock section:-
Sample Preparation
Full diameter core analysis
Plug sample core analysis
Newly introduced laboratory and still under construction, hopefully in near future we will finish setting up this lab. with the assistance of a specialized and experienced company in this area in order to operate and maintain the equipment and get some experience to perform tests and work on projects in the area of formation damage.
Complete Black oil PVT studies which include:
Gas Condensate PVT Studies includes:
Miscibility Studies
Determination of minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) of a reservoir fluid with a selected injection gas, and also the minimum miscibility composition (MMC)
Swelling Tests: (Single contact gas injection)
Determination of mixture saturation pressure and volume after each addition of the gas
In direction of drilling fluids, the following tests according to the API spec can be conducted: Drilling Fluids Tests:. Evaluation of barite. Evaluation of Bentonite. Evaluation of CMC H.V Evaluation of CMC L.v Evaluation of Starch. Evaluation of Pac-R Evaluation of Pac-L Evaluation of Lignosulphonates ( thinners ) Evaluation of Salt water clay. Mud properties.
Specifically, this section can accomplish the following: Provide consulting and conducting studies and researches related to: Formation evaluation and reservoir characterization. Reservoir simulation studies. Well performance evaluation. Working with and providing support to others LPI technical departments to grant solutions of oil industry problems. Working with well known international and national firms, universities and institutes through Participate in joint venture studies to Develop software\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s related to operational problems, gain the experience, knowledge and transfers the technologies. Contribution with technical committees in arranging technical meetings and workshops in order to introduce the industry operation difficulties to the LPI staff
